The Right to Expression... multiple expressions

Expression is energy.

It is a sign of life shown in so many ways.
Art, music, language, performance, gesture, fashion
are just some expression forms.

Marilyn: a portrait of facial expression.

I declare the Right to Expression,
which is an 'umbrella' right for so many Expression rights, such as:

Freedom of Expression makes us healthy,
and it allows each of us the possibility to make
our unique, individual souls shine outward.
One could even say that it is the portrait of a kind of biodiversity.

Freedom of Expression should be its own separate right.
In the United States, Freedom of Expression is often stated as being
part of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights,
but the actual text does not even mention the word 'expression.'

Express yourself, this is a right that is yours to own. No one should be deprived from expression. Without it we would be clueless to people’s emotions. Expression is more than just emotions; it's who we are as individuals which make us all unique. Express yourself!

Everyone should have the right to express themselves. Through fashion, music, style, art, or any creative way. Expression makes us unique and special in our own way. Without expression we would be walking around like zombies and looking the same.

Everyone deserves the right to expression. Every morning we wake up and we do our hair and get dressed, what we decide on is a form of expression .In some cultures expression is not allowed, for example Muslim women are forced to wear a Hijab giving them much less control on their expression.

Being able to express oneself is what shows biodiversity in individuals. It is what defines each one of us; it is our individuality. This is what leads for us to chose our friends and our partners because we like how they express themselves. GIM

I support the right. I look at it as another way of communication. We can tell a lot about people through their own expressions.

I agree with the right to expression. When we express ourselves, we are telling others about our feelings. It is good to express yourself because if you do not, you may become depressed. Expression has a lot to do with our health. If we express our love, we receive love and most times are happy, however if hatred is expressed we may get that in return, which may lead to stress which is bad for our health. RR

Expressing yourself is an important part of who we are on the inside as well as on the outside. Our expressions give people a window to how we truly are on the inside. Through our expressions, people may get to know a part of ourselves that we do not know ourselves. It is a part of our makeup and our individualistic personalities. DS

I agree with the right to expression. I express myself everyday, without caring who sees or hears. I watched Bambi 2 today with my brother, and I cried at the end, though I was made fun of. I fed my 4 month old sister some ice- cream and the face she made caused me to laugh so hard I almost dropped her. I discovered a new song today, "People a theory", and I listened to it so many times my mother almost confiscated my laptop. Everyday I find myself doing something new that expresses me and thinking about it allows me to get to know me.

Expressing yourself is an important part of who you are ,it shows your personality. Everyone deserves the right to express themselves without fear or prosecution. That is a great way to know someone,it also help understand the person in a better way. Without freedom of expression a lot of invention would not exist today.Cjj

This right is closely related to the right of illogical expression. Expression is unique to the individual, which may in turn make it seem illogical to others. It's important to express ourselves in some form if not through art or music, then through simple means like laughter. Expression makes us who we are, it shows the world that we're different.

I agree with the right to expression,is an important part of who you are ,it shows your personality and it define who you are. We all have different taste, different toughs and the only way we can transmit our uniqueness is by expressing. We should be thankful to leave in a Country that support these right. Many different country restrict these right in some ways.

The right to expression is healthy because it is the way we communicate our emotions and feelings to the world. We can tell how we feel or even think about different topics through our expressions in our faces or corporal movements. GLT

I strongly support the right of expression and all its forms of manifestation. People trying to express their emotions had given priceless legacy to humanity. For example: Mozart’s music, Picasso’s paintings, Shakespeare’s plays among many others. Therefore, express yourself, use your creative energy and make the world a better place.

The Right to Expression is a right I can definitely get behind one-hundred percent. Even for all of the people out there who try the most most offensive or bizarre ways to express themselves should still be protected. js

Everyone deserves the right to expression. Your own personal expression is what makes you, you. Everyone is naturally born with their own personal expression. For one not to have or be born with their own personal expression would make the world a boring place. Therefore, express yourself, show you beuty, talent, natural self and be confident of who you are and what has made you, YOU!!!

Everyone should have the right to express themselves. Whether it is throught fashio, cars or art, we all should have the right to be able to express ourselves. In my opionion we should be able to express ourselves, as long we do not harm others. Others may not agree with what you are doing, but as long as you are not harming them, oh well!

I have a little sister and she is always trying to immitate my older sister and I. I always talk with her and tell her she has to be herself no matter what others think. We all should be like that we all should express and do things we feel is right and not worry if it is right to other people.

The Right to Expression is something that I truly value. Regardless of how you choose to express yourself, you are able to do so. Can you imagine if we did not have the right to expression. Expression is what makes each of us individuals, how we choose to express ourselves is such a vital part of our character. -KKP

The right to expression is the right to individuality. Even if we share trends and fashions, likes and dislikes, we are all different. We all have our own world and our own thoughts that are unique in their own way. Through those thoughts and feelings we show expressions, in our faces, clothes, clothes, drawings, even in the way we act. So to live a life without expression would be impossible, unless, we were no longer human.

It should be a given right for us as humans, for suppressing so much inside of us is not healthy. The right of expression takes various forms, depending on our interests and hobbies, and should not be subject to people’s opinions of us. M.A. ( Muaath Alheji )

I agree with commenter DS. Expression shows others what we truly are like, as we are defined by what we say and do. Expression comes from our emotions, how we feel inside, things we believe in, things we enjoy, and we may even express displeasure in things we don't enjoy. Our clothing style, music preference, the activities we participate in are all ways that we express ourselves. Cbereng

Everyone should have the right to express their thoughts, words and actions. We do so through music, fashion, art, etc.., nevertheless expressing yourself must be within societal boundaries since excess of expression without concern of people, animals and the environment as a whole may be harmful, demeaning or dangerous to some.

It is so unfortunate that to this very day the right to expression is violated. Who are we to tell someone who they should love or marry? Who are we to tell someone how they should or should not dress? It is ridiculous that in this day and age we think we have the right to disregard the right to expression.

I completely agree with The Right to Expression.I believe everyone should have the right to express themselves. The freedom to express yourself however you want whether through words, music ,and art should be our right,Our right to express and show our personality.Jp

I agree with the right to expression. Life would be completely boring if indivduals didnt express their personalities through music, art, fashion, etc. When you can express yourself, you are living, and it shows how comfortable and confident you are with yourself. It is great that we have artists like Lady gaga, and the late Basquiat who express themselves through their talents.

This is a right that is important for one self. If we weren't able to show our expressions, it would probably build inside of us as negative energy. I completely agree that expressions are energy that you release. If your expressions are positive, the energy you release will be positive. JENS

Expression is important and needed for learning, growing, and understanding. We all need to have the right to express ourselves in order to be unique and stand out. Our expressions are the building blocks to life, friendship, and ideas. It is a way to share with or block-off others who might be watching or listening. Life would be boring and confusing without it.

The Right to Expression is our personal characteristic for each individual and cannot be duplicated or judged by others. We, as people, cannot and will not want to express ourselves to please other people. We have to live and love ourselves. Most importantly, we have to respect every persons specific expression. That is what makes us special. Besides, it makes watching Deco Drive more interesting.

Without expression, You would not be You. I would not be Me. We need expression. This right can go hand in hand with the Right to Inner Tranquility. Through expression, you can find inner tranquility. Expression is energy. Expression is art, music, dance, etc. Inner tranquility can be found through all these forms. Expression is a necessity for a right full life, as well as Inner Tranquility.

Expression is a way of communication, and there is no denying that some forms of expressions are more acceptable than others. In my opinion, how we express ourselves is unique and it is not always a conscious choice. How we dress, walk, and adorn our bodies is a reflection of our feelings. Do we choose loud or mute colors? Is our stride confident, defiant or are we dragging our feet, our heads bowed communicating submission or defeat? I feel that the Right to Freedom of Expression is a right we all claim and practice in our everyday life. A unique trait we all share yet sets us apart. I believe that this Right should only be addressed by law when a form of expression inflicts harm on another being. VMR

The Right to Expression can be interpreted in several different ways. Is it the expression of the body language or the oral expression? If it's about being able to have the right to express oneself in a physical way then I believe one has to be be careful on how one does it because the reaction to it may be violent. At times I believe that those who express themselves in a physical way showing certain face or body gestures is due to them not being able to verbally express themselves. NOBRA

I believe that all the rights listed under the right to express should be one right. Because in the right to expression is broad and all those other rights can be identified under its topic. But I do agree that the right to expression should be known. It is a way of life. The way people express themselves is how people understand each other through words, emotions, religion, art, music and more as listed in the blog.

Through our right to expression we communicate our desires, our needs. We frequently find that the times we don’t express ourselves, even when we think we should, that someone else has the same feelings and we then wish we had gone ahead with the expression. Don’t hold back, as unique as you feel, there are others out there with the same internal desires. Be the original, let it out first. ctk

This should be a separate right in the constitution because like mention on the post it doesn’t even have the word “Expression” in it and most people don’t even know about it. But again this is a very vague right because it can be abused and used to offend others. You should be able to express yourself in an appropriate way. I do agree with everyone when they say that our expressions is what makes us unique but at the same time this right will grant us the opportunity to express ourselves about others and this is very dangerous. Expression is how we express ourselves. The right to expression I stand behind without this we would not be who we are. If humans were all the same this would be a boring world. We should respect everyone for the way they express themselves. Everyone should have a choice to be original.

Everyone absolutely should have the right to expression. Creative endeavors are some of the most
powerful thing to come out of the human race and to stifle that in any way is a crime.

Friendship is so universal that it's easy to see why it should be codified as a right. Plus, other people could be separated into family, friend, or enemy, and it'd be a pretty awful world where you only had your family and enemies.

I support the right to expression. However our culture does not support this. For example, you are required to wear business formal to work. This, I believe, is a restriction, on your right.

I do believe in the right to expression. It is a right we should all have. I feel thought that many times it is either suppressed or looked down upon in certain cultures. I think that everyone no matter where they are from should have the right and freedom to express themselves as they see fit.

If there was no expression you would not know love, compassion, anger or any emotion from another person. They would be a robot and you would need to guess how to act or react to a person. How people express themselves can change how others act.-NR

Expression is the key to life. You must express yourself to get your point across. How you do it is entirely up to you even if it’s illogical expression. SG

I support the right to expression. I think it is extremely important for all of us to express ourselves, because through our gestures we can communicate to others the way we feel. As humans, we have the need to express ourselves however we want to. ME

I believe that in today's society expressing one's true self is difficult. Our culture is based on conformity, mainly people trying to dress and act like soulless people who become famous due to the way they disrespect themselves on television. I think everyone should try express who they really are, and not just through fashion but through personality, hobbies, and values. Yes Muslim women may be forced to wear a Hijab in some extreme countries, but that does not have to limit their fashion sense in any particular way. There are some ways to create a unique way of expressing yourself while keeping your body and hair to yourself (here is a link of women doing just that... CP) http://hijab-fashion.tumblr.com/ I think its ridiculous that here in America we think women going in public half naked is fine, and ridicule cultures that have their women cover up.

Express yourself!!! I declare the right to expression. We need to have expressions in order to be unique as individuals. If I didn’t have expression’s it’s probably because I have too much Botox in my forehead. I have to show expressions it makes me the person I am. AFF

The right to expression is an undeniable right. Since the begining of time through fashion early humans would express themselves also through art in their cave drawings. Even through struggle african american slaves would express themselves through culture with gospels. The human will always find a way to express themselves as an individual. Tatoos, peircings, modifications, food, art, and even rebellion. Man was born an expresive species...mlv...

I think each one of us should be able to express our feelings through music, art, words, and so many more ways that are available to us. It is important that in some way we show are feelings and we can be ourselves. Society shouldn't judge us by the way we chose to express ourselves. It is the healthy thing to do and the best thing to do. Be unique and be yourself.

Madonna said it, sang it, and lives by it. We should all live with this right. The right to expression is something to live by. Expressing yourself in whatever form you choose should be upheld by law. People need to learn to mind their business and stop criticizing others. I stand by this right and love Madonna…carry on! YYD

If this ever becomes a world where I cannot be, I rather die than shut my soul from the world. Freedom of expression, freedom to show who we are so that it separates us from the multitude, is the only thing that keeps us sane, that lets us breathe.
Whether is fashion, art, etc, we should always find that something that's able to speak for us, that gives us a voice, a view, a choice. And even though the bill of rights does not mention expression I rejoice in the fact that I can still express freely, because there are others who can't!

I agree with the right to Expression. It should be a universal right, for everyone. However, sometimes it is abused, by the very government. For instance in Nicaragua, if you are not a Sandinista, and vote for other political parties, you dont get same benefits, and in a way are forced to vote for the Sandinista. I feel expression could be considered choosing which political group you agree with.
