The Right to Self-Determination... New Professions

Self-determination generally means that a group of people are able to determine their own future, without being prevented by a dictating government regime.
The term derives from oppressive colonial governments of the early 20th century.

Individuals also have the Right to Self-Determination.
This may mean creating a profession for oneself, rather than falling into
one of the pre-established ones.
Examples:
Ameena Matthews is a "ceasefire violence interrupter,"
working to stop gang shooting in inner city Chicago.
Desmond Tutu is an international "injustice-fighting preacher."
The Lady Philosopher is a rights maker.

Examples of new, niche professions that we could create:
Solar energy neighborhood explainer.
Skateboard park designer.
Wildlife rescue first responder.
Fair trade chocolates consultant.
Tomato sauce ingredient expert.
Cursive quill and ink handwriter.
Local food markets social marketing expert.
Digital fantasy portrait artist. (I need one. Anyone know one?)
Handwritten letter-maker.
Public school poetry bard.

What profession can you invent for yourself?

I declare the Right to Self-Determination.

Note: Do not confuse the terms "self-determination" with "determination."
These are not exactly the same.
For more info and clarity, see the original Right to Self-Determination post.

Amount of determination is based on the individual. When you have assignments to accomplish, goals to reach or responsibilities to discharge, you have to persist despite obstacles and against any opposition that may arise. In this life few worthwhile endeavors come easily. You need to have the determination to carry on to the finish if you are to realize them successfully.-YEM

I self proclaim myself as the "secure influention fighter," these words simply plainly describe all I wish to symbolize. My profession besides serving my country would be the persona that I excel to be. Ameena Matthews profession tells that the world is hers to have and the government can not restrain that.

The Right to Self-Determination is when an individual decides to become a professional or fulfill a particular task independently how hard the responsibility to achieve it might be. There is an inner intrinsic force that motivates you to work relentless to accomplished your mission. The self-determine person never becomes a quitter, and does not necessarily requires to have a high I.Q. Perseverance is the clue to success. Former President Abraham Lincoln's advice to aspiring lawyers said, "If you are resolutely determined to make a lawyer of yourself, the thing is more that half done already." Fidela

Self-determination depends on the person. There are times when one is faced with a government where achieving one's goals are limited and restrained, but something can always be done. When controlling a large group of people one of the first things they do is, take away their pride, self-respect, values, etc then giving them a slight hint of hope to prevent people from rebelling. If one can manage to put their life at risk to make a change, then the people in control would think twice before doing something.

I am the “People against Dogma” President and CEO! I have lived my life the way I have wanted to from the time I found my voice, which by the way was not that long ago. I was brought up thinking I needed to follow suit, women clean, care for others, and forget about their dreams. So what did I do? I rebelled! “My idea of feminism is self-determination, and it's very open-ended: every woman has the right to become herself, and do whatever she needs to do.” (Ani DiFranco) I need to live life, smell it, taste it, touch it, feel it, hear it, and then, and only then have I accomplished what I set out to do. Self-Determination, I got this! T.L.

Any human being can do as they please, as long as there is "Self- Determination". This is the driving force of our "Right to Purpose". Because if we cannot determine ourselves as to what we are to become, then there is no purpose.

I think we all have to be self-determined in order to make a difference in this society. As the original post says creating new careers that is a good example where people can demonstrate self-determination. I think that there should be programs in elementary schools which prepare youth to become self-determined persons and that will definitely bring great benefits to our society that’s hungry from new leaders.

Self -determination connects an individual to society. Obtaining this right structures your emotions and thoughts. Desiring and acting on any task you admire is the development of who you are in your own eyes. Humanity is on an endless quest for a destination. We are imperfect and we are weak. Thus, We need to know there is meaning to the walking our legs do every day. Imagine a world without self- determination? I do, It is like oxygen without dreams. It doesnt work for me. Self- determination is the beholder of our comfort and our purpose. LINA.A

Self determination is vital to my well being. The drive that causes me to make good decisions and to live a happy life comes from within my heart. This constant thumping is my personal song, my own rhythm, and I march to it each day and night. This "song" only started playing a few years ago, so it took me a while to find the right station. I believe in self-determination, because it is our will that make our accomplishment. One way I use self-determination is by pushing myself to be the best that I can be a work. Although my position at work I set myself to be the best and with my result I could accomplish my goals to receive an award, like a promotion. Self-determination gets you where you want to be in life. In order to have what you want in life you have to work for it, but you have to work hard for it, and that right there is you self-determination.

I agree with the right to self-determination... new profession. I went to Cuba last summer with my grandmother to meet some of my family. I loved it there, it was beautiful but the people there were so held back by the government. My cousins go to school and both of them are studying art design and my tio is a doctor. However, when my cousins get a job it won’t matter that they went to school and studied what they did, because they'll get a poor salary like a doctor or worse.

People with self determination are people who have found it in themselves to fight for a cause that the rest of the population has rejected or neglected. In order to understand self- determination we must look at the etymology of self and determination.
The word "self" comes from the Old English seolf or sylf which means "ones own person, separate , apart". In the 1650' "Determination" was defined as " fixed direction toward a goal" So the definition of self-determination would be "ones own person, separate, apart fixated on a direction that leads toward a goal". If I can create a profession I would be an Innovative Mentality Changer!!!

I don’t think self-determination in this case means exactly the determination that you have to reach a certain goal, even though that kind of makes sense. But what I think the right to self-determination really means is that you have the right to determine exactly what you want to be and not let the society decide for you. I once read a book like that but cannot recall the name right now. E.P.C

Self-determination is the ability or capacity to make educated choices, free of pressure, based on one's own personal beliefs and values. That is the freedom to make decisions for ourselves in all areas of our lives. The concept of autonomy reinforces this right to be free from unwanted interference, which means that there must be legal justification for any decision. I am agreeing with self-determination, but several existing models of autonomy changed the real meaning.

I propose a “Lift children up, don’t crash them down advisor” career. I am very concerned watching negligence grow every day in parents of young man and women. I think parents should be at least educated or advised to look for help, when they can’t educate their own children in lovely way. Where there is no love, something else fulfills that void that is usually not healthy for society. The new advisor career I propose, would promote parents education and encouragement to be motivators to their own children.

The right to self-determination (new professions)
Self-determination; is believing you can, and will control your own destiny. So has a film maker, we have to have a lot of self-determination, because we have to be able to always be in control of the future of the film we’re filming, that’s why I want to self- proclaim myself the “film of perfection”, film because I love film is my passion… and perfection because everything I like to be in control of everything I do and make sure is done right. When you’re in control everything comes out perfect.

The hard work someone puts into their business especially when it comes to food is something that can be done the right way or the wrong way. The way people see jobs and see the way you strive for something that you can call yours at the end shows the potential the love the person has for what they do everyday for the people that enjoy it more then the owner. The right to self-determination is the deep link we have with a sense of destiny. When transgender people are born in the wrong body and are raised in a gender discordant with their mind, they know in their heart of hearts that something feels deeply wrong, even unnatural. We all have a natural feeling for our place in this Earth and how we wish to take it.

Our current system of professions with economic skewing sadly hampers that ability for self-realization, but I have no doubt that with technological breakthroughs -- leading to the more efficient recycling and disposition of resources alongside quality of life increases -- will lead to a future where people can start living their lives instead of scrambling just to have a chance to live close to that goal.
