The Right to Expression... the Right to Music

Music has a profound effect on the mind and the physical body.
The exact nature of this effect is still unknown and being revealed by researchers.
Music alters brain waves, heart rate, and breathing rate.
It is known that music is healing to the body and mind with certain illnesses.

For this reason, I declare the right to music,
whereby no human being shall be denied musical sound.

I believe that music works both in a good and bad way......... music for the ears can bring good memories relax you give you energy etc....however, some music just brings back bad or sad times and can make you drepressed at times. Regardless of the mood music may bring to someone, we just can't get enough of it!

Just the other day, I literally felt "drunk off of good music." Music of all kinds can have such an uplifting feeling, bring back good memories, or help me clear my head. I know when I am down or depressed there are certain songs, or artists that I can listen to that will help take me out of my slump, or when I'm in a good mood, music just keeps me there haha.
Music, aside from mathematics, is one of the only universal languages of our world. "You ain't gotta speak the language if you wanna feel the flow / The rythm's in us, it travels wherever we go." Jam Session 2.0 - Dumbfoundead.

Music exacerbates moods, or relieves them. It is powerful enough to change emotions and inspire. Music is a talent, it is a gift. Try imagine a life without music or sound.

Music is a way to express how you feel through words and sound. If you want to relax, you can put on a little R&B and enjoy the flow. Music in most cases help clears my mind.

I agree with Esmarelda with how music can sometimes work as a double edged sword. Music can trigger happiness, excitement, or joy. It can also create sadness or depression. Musicians have the right to express what they feel or the experiences they've had. Us, as music lovers also have the right to choose songs to what you want to listen to.

Music is everywhere and in everything around us. Real music lovers find melodies in just about anything.

Music makes me feel free, it relaxes me and without music I feel down and sad. That is my sugar rush for the day. I have the radio on all day and it does not matter what kind of music I just need to hear the sound.

Music is a way of expression that has positive effects and therefore I think we should all have the right to music. Not just human beings, but I was in a debate where we questioned whether the sounds a line of birds make would be considered music. If the sound of nature also may help heal the body, then I think all beings should have the right to music. -v.p.

I believe music can not only be a form of expression, but also alter someones emotional state. For me personally it helps me relieve stress. When I am happy, I sing a song, or attempt to make music with whatever is around me. There are some sounds that drive me crazy, others put me at peace and yet others take me to a different state of mind. I think making or listening to music should be everyones right. LP

I can't live without music, in my car, at work, etc. Music makes me happy, even if sometimes brings you a past memory, or makes you remember someone that is not here anymore, don't matter music is life, is art. Of course, there is always going to be some type of music that we are not going to like, that is not going to sound like music to our ears. LR

I believe that music definitely has a major impact on our daily lives. Music puts me in a great mood. Whether I'm getting ready to go out, cleaning the house or just simply driving to work. Listening to certain types of songs also brings back old memories which is great. It definitely relieves pain when you are passing by a difficult situation. The majority of people do not like talk about their problems so they would turn to music as some sort of therapy.

Music is the gateway to many emotions we feel as humans. Music has the influence to take us to many places within ourselves that we would otherwise shy away from, or not be brave enough to face. Through Music we communicate at some level or another with everyone, and everything that surrounds us. D.B.

Music brings out a sense of comfort to each person. Music soothes the soul no matter what the occasion maybe. It is something universal, we all share it, no matter what language it is or where it comes from. There is not a day that goes by that I do not listen to music and that is because music is just the way of life. Women who give birth listen to soft music to help them cope with the pain. Babies fall asleep to lullabies. It stirs our feelings, to help us deal with any emotion, whether we are aware of them or not. Music is simply a tool.

Yes, I agree. My daughter and I make CD of my favorite music for me during the Christmas Holidays. I selected all of my favorite songs. I listen to my favorite music on my way to work every morning, during lunch and on my way home. The music of the 70'S keeps me in a good mood. I find myself singing some of the songs when I am not in my car. Music is definitely good for the heart and mind. I fine it relaxing.

Music to me is therapeutic. It helps me concentrate better when I am at work. When I am stressed and there are many people talking in my office, I put on my head phones and put a song on Pandora and everything is better. In some ways it heals me and gives me the energy I need to continue with my day. Music is very powerful, it can give you the will power to do what your heart desires the most and give you the peace and tranquility to make your day go smoother.

Music is a man-made invention; it is a way of expressing how you feel. Listening to music is a sort of drug for some people. In fact, listening to music releases the feel-good drug dopamine. Music is also unique; there are wide ranges of music styles such as, punk rock to classical music. Depraving a person from this right is also denying them a right to expressing themselves.

I think anyone should have the right to listen to any type of music. Not only listen but as artists you have the right to express yourself. Music I believe, is a way for artists to express how they feel and give a story through their music. I personally get my inspiration sometimes through music. I can personally relate to certain songs. It is also a way to relieve stress and get in a better mood.

Music is powerful. It originates from within us, but allows us to feel connected to one another on an emotional level. It can seem as though the music is speaking to just us when we need it to, and to a group of people at the same time. Music is an inherent right because it is inherent in us. Gabe

I'm a Dj an as one I seen that music can control peoples mind and body, leading them to do thing that they wouldn't do other wise like going up to a girl in a club or going on top of a stage and being the center of attention with out caring about what people think. Point is, life would be plain with out music. -AN

Music is magic. It heals the soul and lifts the spirit. Music can also be used to teach desired behaviors by using music therapy. By listening to music we also learn about different cultures and times in history, we learn about the people who made it and their thoughts and feelings. Some we may relate. The right to music is a gift from God. GS

The right to music? or the right to choose the music genres? not everyone has to listen to music genres that they don't like to listen to. In my opinion if I don't like the music that I hear I either walk away or I ask kindly to change the music if the other person doesn't agree to change it I just wait for my turn to listen. I think we should all share and learn about others but we don't have to like it all. al we can do is respect other music genres. GIL RO

There are somethings in nature which you can't escape no matter how hard you try. Music is one of them. It has so many benefits to our body and mind. Every noise in nature can be musical. Music is a force too powerful to abolish. Therefore, music is a right and almost an entity.
