René Descartes (1596–1650) is considered a founder of modern philosophy,
but he also influenced physics in a big way.
In his mature work, Principles of Philosophy (1644),
Descartes believed that conserving quantity of motion
was a fundamental principle of the cosmos.
The state of rest as the most natural physical state.
To uphold Descartes theory, the Lady Philosopher is breaking for neuron rest.
To all my brilliant blog commenters, come back soon!
See you in a few weeks, post-holidays!

I agree with the right to rest. Everyone has the right to rest. We already have this right at work places and schools. This right is supported by the labor laws that state that you must have a break after every four hours and also you must have a lunch break in an eight hour shift. It further states that a working week is forty hours and employees should get sick time and vacation time to rest either for pleasure or sickness. Students also get mandatory rest periods so that they can recuperate and rejuvenate their bodies. So my fellow bloggers I will now exercise my right to rest and will proceed to start my well deserved Christmas vacation. RR.
I believe I deserve this right after the semester I just had. The Right to Rest is definately limited to hard working students. I am grateful to take this right and run with it. Atleast until January when the new semester starts. JENS
The Right to Rest is my favorite! At times this busy world that we live in takes every single energy out of us, therefore, this right is extremely important. After so much hard work there comes a time that is priceless and that time is the time that we rest. When I rest my mind goes blank and when I finally wake up I feel like a new person. Every hard working adult and every living thing is this world deserves the right to rest. NOBRA
The Lady Philosopher has spoken: it is time to engage in the right to rest! The right to rest is a right that should not be taken lightly or taken for granted. As hard as you may need to work, rest is a vital component to our lives and we need to recharge our batteries every now and then in order to be productive.
I agree with the Right to Rest! It is proven when you take breaks you are more productive when you do work. I say farewell to all as I partake in the Right to Rest and enjoy some fun in the sun! DS
The right to rest is a very well earned right at this moment after the semester some of us have just had. Thank God and the Lady Philosopher for such opportunity. Hopefully all humans, plants and animals can find some resting time along their lives to enjoy their families, friends or even if it's just to sleep. It is my believe that everybody deserves some kind of rest in their lives. Have a great vacation everybody and Happy Holidays. Hope to hear from everybody when we come back from vacation. CMP
I declare the right to rest and I wish I had more of it. I wish I even had a lunch break at work, but it seems that there isn’t enough time in my day that it just passes me by, I only get about six hour’s of sleep a day. Thank god for Nyquil. We should live like the European’s they have siesta and close down all business just to rest. If only AFF
I agree with the right ro rest.we need to recharge our battery after doing so much hard work everyday. This is a very important for our body. It's even better when it is well deserve, especially after a great school semester.cjj
Here's to the rest of us! (That is a totally intended pun). JS
The right to rest is all of mind, body and soul. As we end our days we come to rest as sleep. It replenished our body to wak to a new day. During our breaks at work we use those 30 minutes to eat, fuel up, or even make a phone call to releave some stress. After that break we can pull another set of countless hours. In life we take a permanent rest through death, after a long life full of happiness and sadness, the body and soul need rest. With death new life comes upon in forms of afterlife. Rest is the medicine that keeps us going...mlv...
I agree with the right to rest. Rest is a time that allows us to clear the mind and think about all we have learned, whether it be from a text book or experience, and think of the big picture and what this means to us. It is not only a right, but a bodily need that we must fulfill. GLT
I enjoy this right and I think everybody should enforce it. It is a wonderful opportunity to give our body and mind some rest in order to start new the next day. It is also an amazing thing when teachers realize we need to be given enough rest and they appreciate their students long schedule.

LXC said it best; The Lady Philosopher has spoken and I will exercise this right to the fullest potential! Thank you for an interesting approach to ENC! Cbereng
I agree with this right 110%. In order for the human body to function properly we need to rest and distract our mind. Actually while studying you should take a break every 45 minute to help you concentrate.I am looking forward my Christmas Mass break this semester has been making me crazy and I just want a whole full day in bed without having to do anything. I love this class, I learn many new material and I consider Lady Philosopher to be a very intelligent professor.

After this holiday season, I will really enjoy my right to rest. Everyone needs to rest when their body tells them to. GIM
Rest is a necessity, without it we could not function. Ever seen cranky people, they lack rest. Our bodies revolve around diet and exercise but also on rest. I will be going on vacation and will definitely take this right with me. This is the best right of them all. YYD
After a long day’s work there is nothing better than a well-deserved rest. I must agree that everyone is entitled to a good long rest once In a while. The body itself can’t live without rest in the form of sleep, so it is more of a necessity.

It is essential for our total well being to make time to take time out. I find it more difficult to rest my mind than my physical body. I almost missed this posting. And so today, I am making it a priority to check my schedule and schedule time out. To quote Ashley Brilliant, “Sometimes the most urgent thing you can possibly do is take a complete rest.” Happy Holidays everyone! I will miss our group. VMR
One of my favorite things to do is to rest! I enjoy my sleep so much, and to be honest this saturday morning class had made it that much more precious to me. So cheers to the right to rest. SG
I think rest is really important for all of us. In order for humans to function correctly and make it through the day, rest is necessary. There is only so much the body can take when we work, study, travel, play sports and do other activities during the day. Rest is essential and we all have the right to do it! ME
I support, believe and I will put all my effort in enjoying the right to rest. We all deserve it. We have all gained it.

I agree with the right to rest. We should have stronger labor laws. We should work four days a week and get paid for five. Also, we should be entitled to three months of paid vacation a year.

Well some psychological researchers have found that sleep deprivation might cause health and mental problems so rest we must! Work is important but rest is just as or even more important, we cannot function properly if we do not rest. So I wish everyone happy holidays and that you find some time for yourself to meditate, re-evaluate, think and relax. This has been a very fruitful semester and now I go with a well deserved resting period. Thank you for sharing all of your ideas, you bloggers rock!
I agree with this right. It is very important for the mind and body. It keeps us healthy, focused, and in harmony. If we didn't rest people would most likely be more angry.-NR
I totally agree with the right to rest. I have not been able to rest yet. I have been applying to the BASDH program in St. Petersburg College and preparing to take the CDA exam in January 2012. On top of all of this activity I have been seeking employment. I hope to get some rest in the near future. Good Luck to everyone and I hope next year is as adventurous as this year has been.

I agree with the right to rest. Everyone needs a little relax time, no worrying about school, or work, a personal vacation. Thank goodness for the holidays. Do not take this right for granted, take advantage, and rest while you can.

I would write something right this minute, but I am resting!

P.S. Thank you Dragon Dictation!
I completely believe and Agree with The Right to Rest. Resting is an important factor for our health and our minds emotionally. I am single parent and I have learned to appreciate and value any resting time I am granted even if it is just a five minute rest. I am truly thankful for the Right to Rest, In my opinion everyone should pamper themselves relax and rest when needed our bodies will truly appreciate it. JP
Well, I think that the rest is more than a right.it is a need of the body and of the mind.

We function the best when we get a good nights rest. Without rest, we start getting physical and cognitive problems which interfere with our daily tasks. Rest is very much needed even though more then half the world barely gets the amount they need.
