The Right to Age

Let us sag with years of Earth's gravity.
Let us wrinkle the days we have lived and learn'd.
Let us spot from years of shining sun.
Let us slow with no rush to the end.
Let us compassion ourselves.

May we have the Right to Age.

we all have the right to age, to grow, and to live. age is something thats not given to many people, so why complain when you see a wrinkle or two?.. although i still dont have any wrinkles, i see wrinkles as marks of years of wisdom and knowledge... & if you still do not agree with having wrinkles, there is always a little friend called Botox.

Aging is part of life process. If we don't age we dont live. The only reason why we age is because of oxygen.

I imagine when you turn old, you set up to see if you did right in life, or wrong. An old age is a mirror image of a life lived, and the doubt of the life after death. So turning older is kind of enjoyable because you can still feel like you are young and energetic, but you are having all the benefits of good judgment and life experience also.

If you are getting old it means you are alive.

I wish I had the right to be whatever age I wanted to be. Seeing how thats not possible, the next best thing would be the right to age so I can watch my children and grandchildren grow.

Everyone grows older. The right to age is just another of life's process. We all have the time for everything, so aging is just one of those things we have to abide by.

I totally agree with the right to age. Why change who we are and try to make us look like something that we are not. People having these surgeries to look younger, honestly, they look worse. Look at someone who had surgery example surgery for their wrinkles, they may look younger but when you look at their hands it does not look right cause their hands have wrinkles. We should live day by day and not try to change who we are as an individual but try to live in spirit a young good health life.EA

The right to age is actually something I look forward to. There is something so pure about aging and watching those around you grow and concur. The right to age is something that I believe needs to be embraced and not feared.

We all do have the right to age. We can take care of our skin so that we don't age before our time. There are always creams and also sunscreen to protect us from the sun. The wrinkles will just be life's accomplishments.

The aging process is something that us as human beings cannot control. There are many procedures out there that claim to turn back the clock, but eventually the aging process will come out on top.

I have always felt and have experienced that with age comes wisdom. I guess there is a right to age, but aging is a fact of life. We all go through aging and because of health and genetics some experience this longer than others. I feel there is beauty, respect, and knowledge that comes with aging so why fight it, just embrace it.

My grandmother didn't see herself as old, which is true of a lot of people as they age. It is odd that we celebrate birthdays, but not aging. The woman in the photo is beautiful, wrinkles and all, because you can see her strength and spirit through them. People should have the right to age with grace, dignity, and a good dose of humor.

Aging is inevitable, there is no way of escaping it. But with all the beauty commercials that promote anti-aging creams, why should aging be considered a death sentence? The more wrinkles on one's face shows the years of experience and growing wisdom. The only thing those creams are covering up is the own person's denial.

We all have the right to age. To some wrinles are ugly but yet many dont mind having them. Those who dont want wrinkles and want to lie to themselves by looking young but feeling old can always do plastic surgery. Everyone ages no matter if you try to hide it. So why not just go along with it and accept the wrinkles?

Anonymous said...

In today’s modern world, we try to hide our wrinkles forgetting each one is a story of our own unique journey. Our wrinkles bring to surface our maturity. They show how much we have suffered and how much we have loved. Old age is something to cherish. Longevity is a precious gift and should be embraced with all its wonders. Lucky are those who have endured the shining sun and watched it age for just a little bit. E.S.

we should also have the right to fight against old age. i actually think that is more important right, because it can actually be taken away, if a way to avoid old age were invented, and made illegal. Theres no way to take away the right to age.

To grow old is a privelege. Our culture often looks down at aging. When indeed it is a gift. I also believe you are only as old as you feel.

The right to age is a natural part of life. Unfortunately, society has become so superficial that aging is NOT accepted. People go to extreme lengths to try to defy the passage of time. These methods, in the long run, will ruin our society. Again we are changing the 'natural course' of life....not good.

Let us have the right to age. It is simply part of the life cycle. We shouldn't rush to age or prevent it either. -v.p.

We all should have the right to age. Age simply shows how much wisdom one has gathered through the years. Aging is a beautiful process of life and we should be grateful if we get there. Many people do not have the opportunity to experience age. We take this simple part of life and many times, chose to inject ourselves with hazardous chemicals to make us look younger. It is incredible how life is. When we are young, we wish we were older and now that we are aging, we wish to be younger. The circle of life, amazing.

Why would anyone want the right to age? With age, one has the ability to possess an instinctive knowledge of how to judge a situation and then make the necessary appropriate decisions. One as well becomes confident from the abilities one acquires from diverse experiences in life to exhibit and bring about continuing feelings of healthy self-worth. One becomes grounded as a human being and begins to own oneself by being aware of what you like and do not. One is now a crucial part of the past and shares with ones recollections of it. People now look up to you to remind them of how past life ethics should continue to be installed. You are now aware of the importance of life and its meaning as well as the desire to use ones time wisely. Wow, what wonderful factors one has to look forward to!

I think the right to age is actually very interesting. Aging is not a right, it is actually a consequence of being alive. It depends on each person if they want to prevent looking old or if they want to let their age show. However, people should understand that apparency can be modified but the age and what someones' has gone through cannot.

The right to age should be given to every being. Aging is something natural that happens. If we do not age we do not learn from the mistakes we have made in our life. Aging may not be the most pleasant look, but it allows us to live; it allows us to grow. Aging allows us to explore every feeling within ourselves.

Ingrid J. said...

I agree that aging is not a right, it is a consequence of being alive. Some people age with dignity, some very bitterly and discontented. Isn't it ironic that when we are children we want to get older and when we are getting older we want to be younger? Age is just a number, we must be young at heart.

People worry all the time about getting old and having wrinkles, but in my opinion having wrinkles and gray hair isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it shows that you have experience in life and that you have lived through what is now our history.

Age is beautiful. With age comes experience and the right to be wise. Someone should be so proud to say that they have made it so far.

Age is simply a number that people but to much stock in. Yes, many of us will not live to be 100 - but what is the quality of life at 100 compared to a 25 year old? As Billy Joel said "Only the good die young", but maybe Billy was on to something. Time is relative and while a year is always 365 days - for a 10 year old a year represents 10% of his life whereas it will represent simply 1% of the life of a 100 year old.

The right to age can go either way. You can hide behind surgically enhanced faces or go the natural way and let yourself go. There are natural ways you can control your wrinkles. Live a healthy life and you will look and feel the best you possibly can.

The right to age is one of the most important facts in our lives. We have to be well aware of
a very important situation, that, we have to lived in accordance to our age in every aspect of
human behavior.

Aging in growing in wisdom and experience, yes. Wrinkles and white hairs, no. Do I have a choice? not really. -- KB

A number shouldn't define your age. Age should be defined by our health. Some are young by age with an older mindset while elderly individuals despite age are still young at heart. Like the dog where they multiply seven per every year. Where we’d see 5 years (35) most still have the energy of a young puppy. It’s all perspective and what you believe your age to be. – D.T

Age is a only a number. It is perfectly fine to get old because you can't stop it, until the day you can go back in time you can never prevent getting old unless you pass away before.

I am more afraid of getting old, just the fact of being so old scares me, like this photo.
However, is beautiful when I see people that old and they are still full of energy.

I am on the fence, on the one hand if a person sees aging as a positive thing that is his or her right. Personally, I want to live forever, if there was pill that could maintain my current appearance I would be the first in line to take it. Life is beautiful, aging only inspire reflection upon ones youth and ultimately death. Getting old does not necessarily mean you have to look or feel old. Gary Norris

I think aging is such a beautiful process. When I see someone who's older (as in 60+, not 25), I don't think, "Oh, look at that old bag." I think, "That person probably has so many stories to share and so much experience I can learn from." I think being at that golden age is seriously underrated. We should cherish those who are wiser than us. --Rosa F.

The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven't changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don't change at all. Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.

We all have the right to get older, to share our wisdom and experiences, and enjoy our memories that constitute our past.

We all have the right to come to terms with aging, but aging itself is more an inevitability than a right. Aging is a sign that we are dying and logically, people might detest their wrinkles or lack of energy. To me, aging itself is not beautiful, but rather, the life spent is. Old age does not necessarily signify wisdom, but I'd like to think that someone of old age has lived happily and learned alot in their lifetime.

Life comes at us in stages, we are given the opportunity to live as newborns, toddlers, children, teens, adults, and finally old folks. Although they may seem different they have two things in common, as time goes by everyone advances into the next stage of life, and although you may feel and look different you are the same person. I believe everyone has the right to age and should cherish that they were able to advance into the next stage of life.

With age comes a lot of knowledge and wisdom. Although, as young adults we think we know everything, we often seek info or advice from our elders.
