The Right to Creativity Sharing

If we create or invent something,
will we share it, so humanity will progress?

Or will we patent it with our ownership,
save it, keep it, possess it?

The newest idea on this is the Creative Commons,
where scientific, cultural, and educational innovation can be shared.
Licenses rather than patents are used.
Patents have many limits that prevent sharing.
This is also connected to the Right to Research,
whereby college students would have access to the latest research.

I believe that we should participate in creative sharing if it's to benefit the population with scientifical advancements that would help reach an answer for the unknown. D. B.

Share it, if it has been given to you, give unto others. You will reap what you sow. What good will it do if you take ownership of it? Creativity not shared is creativity gone to waste.--KB

Sharing is caring. I believe everyone is entitled to share their ideas and creativity. If someone comes out with an idea for something and that something becomes popular, someone will see it as an opportunity to recreate it and make it better. In other words revolutionize it. Some may think of it as "stealing an idea", but I believe its a way to share your creativity with the world. Its how we live today. There is always room for more.

If creations and inventions were not shared, we would not be advanced as we are today. It is alright to patent things, only to prevent others from using, selling or distributing the patented invention without permission; not to save, keep or possess them.

Patenting a creation or not, the right to creative sharing is beneficial to everyone. Pop art was a mixture of popular culture and the aesthetic of fine art. Although some might not appreciate this creative art form this evolution of incorporating ideas together is creative sharing. This type of sharing can also imply to advancing technology or improving previous inventions. And it should be available to everyone without having any illegal precautions.

I believe that no matter what it is we should share it if it will make a better future for us. If we have the chance to help people why dont we? We cant always be selfish and everytime we do a good deed we cannot always expect a thank you. Thats how life is.

in order for humanity to progress successfully we must be open minded about things, we prosper through new and different things everyday. the right to creativity sharing is a must, without it we are setting ourselves up for failure in the future.

I believe that if we create something that will contribute to the betterment of mankind, that we should share. And of course, patent it. You deserve to be acknowledged for your creation, why should someone else be allowed to take credit for your creation?

Espy said...

I agree with Rhonda, if you create something for the advancement of life, obviously share it, but make sure its YOUR idea. Creating something special is rewarding when people know who it originated from.

i think we should share out ideas with people because what you created could be something fantastic, even though people "steal ideas'' or " borrow" them, you should put your name on it, or a copyright. share great ideas but know ho to trust, and put your name on things!.

Luz Mery said...

I think ideas should be shared as long as those who decide to borrow them know to give the correct credit. By sharing ideas we are able to make better decision for the future.

Creative sharing gives the opportunity for faster advancements in medicine and education. Patents are just another barrier to these advancements. -v.p.

There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns

I do agree that we should share our inventions if they can somehow help others, but some type of license should exist because there is always someone that would try to take advantage of our creations in a wrong way.

If an invention will benefit mankind then it should be shared.

Create something new should be base in the desire of benefit others. What reason have created something good and keep it hidden? But for sure, I think we need to respect the invention of others and pay for it.

I do believe people have the right to create or invent something. I also believe that there should be some type of documentation that he or she invented or created.

I'm a giving person if i have or know about something that will help people i will give it away, So of course if i create or invent something useful for society i will share it, there will be no need to be greedy.

If a patent keeps a innovation away from researchers the knowledge must be put to use. So in giving people licenses on their ideas is good enough for progress in a modern society.P.L

In my opinion, it should be entirely up to the creator.

Creativity Commons is a good thing as long as it is done in a positive way. Creativity feeds off of creativity, so it is an important ingredient for innovation. However, what information is shared and how it is presented should be given careful consideration. Making information easily accessible that can be harmful in the wrong hands is something to be very cautious about.

In my opinion, if the invention is going to help others, it should be shared. I heard a rumor of a fruit out there that could help treat cancer as effectively as chemo, and most people dont know about it because a fruit can not be patented...zulima alvarez

I think that we should have the right to share. People are very greedy and everything that they do is for me. For example, if all of the research companies share their ideas, the probability of finding a cure to cancer and/or diabetes, or any other horrible disease would be.

Anything that is for the benefit of the humanity should be share. What is the point of creating something if we are going to keep to ourselves? If Martin Cooper wouldn't have patented his invention back in 1973,cell phones wouldn't exist today. Laura R.

Beneficial knowledge should be shared if it will help people. It cant help people continuously if you its not shared. GP

Whenever we create something we have the abrogation to share our creation for the better of mankind. In addition, because we are the creator of this invention we also have the right to patient and protect its secrets. It all depends on what that particular invention is. Gary Norris

Some ideas are made to be patent. Some ideas and/or inventions should be shared for the growth of the human race. I am not sure which ideas should be allowed to go either way. I do know that money can and always will destroy great ideas.

Anonymous said...

Any creative invention that helps or benefits the human population should be shared, but that's where money comes into play. People patent things so that no one else can steal their idea and call it their own, which makes sense, but if someone else found a way to make this idea better, or even more accessible to any economic class, than the idea should be shared.

The idea is perfect but unfortunately it will not work in this Earth because human being love money too much.

I would share it after getting credit for it. People like recognition and its as simple as that. There are many things which will help society to grow but first I believe in giving credit where credit is due. And after that, let people go crazy trying to develop things further.

My ideal world would consist of a place where we all share our creativity with one another liberally. A patent on something reserves the possibilities of many unique and bright minds coming together and creating what was believed to be impossible.

I believe patenting an idea is "sharing" our works with other. Although we are reserving the right to improve on the design of the product we still put it up for others to purchase and use. Unfortunately this type of thinking is what keeps our society from improving at a faster rate. The rewards and benefits of this life may seem great but in the end we might be devastated at what happens in the afterlife. Spreading ideas now can not only help us advance in society but it can give us a better standing in the life to come.

I believe that if someone invents something they do have the right to own it. This does not stop people from having what is invented or created.

Absolutely, creativity should be shared. The patent situation comes in when the person/party that created the idea expresses how badly they want to be the one who is known to have started or created the idea or movement. It's like what Harry S. Truman said, "It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit."

I think we all have a creative outlet with in us. By creativity we can inspire others, if we keep our creativity under wraps then our society would not be where it is today. Franklin Roosevelt said that happiness is not in the mere possession of money, it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of a creative effort. We can all experience a thrill if we unleash our creative side for the world to see.

Creative sharing will help our community. Creative sharing is something that can bring people together about issues that affect our friends and family. Why be greedy and try to hide something that can benefit someone else? I think it is a great idea putting information together to come up with a cure or a solution to whatever problem comes up. Being able to be connected with research also helps us have a wider prospective and knowledge towards what is out there. Humanity means being united, we need to be united in order to share what we know and help those who need it the most.

I believe that sharing creativity eventually helps others to increase knowledge in certain things. However, sharing should be limited to only beneficial stuff.

Research should be available to everyone; this way we could develop better ideas of what we have created. But people get so caught up with the idea of money that they don’t think of the bigger picture.

I think people have to share their thoughts and inventions and discuss them because its not the same to have one invertor, as to having a group of inventors sharing their ideas. I belive this is why we have such a strong country. We have people from all over the world working in this country.

The Right to create and share ideas with others should be the everyone's decision. I think each creator has their right of how they want to share, prohibit and restrict their respective idea to be duplicated.

I believe that creativity that is not shared is creativity lost. We all have a creative side within us; whether it is painting, designing, writing, etc.

Unfortunatly, humans are greedy by nature due to the fact that society has conditioned them to be that way. Nonetheless, it is imperative that as great inventions are created, or medical advancements are discovered, that the knowledge is shared so others may benefit from it. We are often caught up with trying to get awards, fame and glory, instead of realizing how many people can benefit from our creation. Money is power and power is fame, but everyone needs to realize that LIFE isn't a game.

I like to think we should share, but holding the 'rights' to it at the same time in a proper manner without so many restraints and implications. – D.T

I did not realize how complicated creativity sharing is. I feel if you invent something that will better our lives patent it and make some money. However if it is some life saving discovery and by putting a patent on it will restrict or limits access to it the information that’s a problem. I still feel the inventor should gain from their discovery. Share the information. How do you think science and our technology has become this advanced?

We should be creative and share things that would benefit human kind, but at the same time we should restrain bad human habits. If you have something to share with the world, let it be for good and not for bad or selfish reasons.

Sharing is providing a constructive idea, experiences , invention and more with others. It turning out to be common that people are buying flat screen a lot. This television with his shade and a large display dimension has a big impact on people. It impeaches them to see poor pictures that were unclear and lost its vibrant colors. The LCD and plasma invention solved these dilemmas by changing from a cathode-ray to the use of plasma. Is not cool to have a little movie theater at home now?
